Alexis Rankin is a photographer based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Currently a senior at the University of Michigan, she is a major in the Program in the Environment with a minor in English. She has served as Managing Photo Editor at The Michigan Daily for two consecutive years (2018 and 2019) during which time she has managed a staff of photographers, photographed everything from Michigan Football in the Peach Bowl to Hillary Clinton in Detroit, and worked across sections at the Daily toward institutional improvements. She has done freelance work and been featured in publications such as The Atlantic, Automotive News, The Denver Business Journal, and Michigan Alumnus. She works as a peer advisor for the Program in the Environment and has a focus on conservation ecology. She has worked as a media/marketing intern with the University of Michigan Biological Station where she combined her interest in photography with her interest in the environment, photographing students in the field. She hopes to pursue a career in which she can combine her skill and passion for photography and writing with the environment, specifically in areas of conservation. Other interests include camping, hiking, rock climbing, and yoga.
